Cigna GO YOU

I was the Community Manager for Cigna’s GO YOU Facebook page, which served as the primary call-to-action for the company’s 2011 rebranding effort. The new voice of Cigna was a monumental change and carved a unique spot for the company within the health insurance and health services industry. On the Facebook page, I managed a thriving conversation about individuality and believing in yourself in order to reach your full potential.

Surfrider Foundation

I know how to make the most of social media. The Massachusetts Chapter of Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving  New England’s beaches and oceans, needed a new way to obtain support for the Massachusetts Beverage Container Recovery Law, also known as the bottle bill. If this legislation passes, it will provide an economic incentive for consumers to return used bottles and other containers. From Surfrider’s standpoint, the legislation is a win-win. The public gets some extra cash, and more importantly, there are fewer bottles polluting our oceans.

Facebook has an application called “causes” that provides an easy, “green” way for nonprofits to seek support. For the Surfrider Foundation, I created a cause called “Update the Massachusetts Bottle Bill!” Before they could say, “surf’s up,” the nonprofit had a powerful cause application that could be shared with hundreds or thousands of likeminded followers.
